Inside Parkland Acreage: A Timeless Design Story

There are projects that you design, and then there are projects that stay with you. I wanted Parkland Acreage to be the project that welcomed you into this new editorial chapter. Looking back, I realized just how much I’ve created and documented over the years projects, behind-the-scenes moments, concepts, materials, installs and stories. So much of it has simply lived in my phone and on my laptops because I never really gave it the time or space to shine. So, I thought I would start here.

Parkland Acreage was one of those projects for me.

Built by Tyler Eastcott of Tytom Cabinetry, who I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside on many beautiful projects. Together, we’ve become a design-and-build duo, bringing craftsmanship and thoughtful design together. This home was created with timelessness, character, and craftsmanship in mind. Working closely with the client, we knew we wanted it to feel timeless, a home that could evolve over decades rather than one designed around a moment or a trend. The result was warm, layered, a little Old English touches with stone backsplash, and full of character.

I’ve always believed that a beautiful home doesn’t have to follow every trend. In fact, some of my favorite spaces are the ones where you can’t immediately pinpoint when they were designed. Throughout this full-home renovation, we played with traditional details, rich materials, furnishings, pattern and those smaller design moments that often end up becoming my favorites. To create the open-concept kitchen envisioned in this rendering, a structural steel beam was installed, allowing us to open up the space. Then came one of those career moments I’ll always remember. Parkland Acreage was showcased in Best Home Magazine.

Seeing a home that once existed as ideas in my head, material samples spread across a table and countless selections eventually become a finished space and then seeing it photographed and featured in a magazine was pretty surreal. But looking back now, the feature isn’t actually what I love most about this project. It’s knowing that years later, I would still come back to this timeless beauty. And to me, that is what classic design is really about
